Campus positions are called Project Directors. Openings are likely during the summer months to begin work in August, right around the beginning of the school year. Communities In Schools of South Central Texas, Inc. looks for energetic and enthusiastic individuals who have the desire to work with at-risk students within the public school system. Minimum requirements include at least a Bachelor’s Degree in social work, sociology, psychology or other social science field. Social work experience is helpful. The position requires a lot of energy and stamina, working with challenging students in an emotionally and physically challenging environment. This position is considered a generalist social work position. Duties include everything from individual work with students to managing groups, doing presentations, making home visits, documenting all services, working closely with school administrators and faculty, field trips, preparing newsletters home to parents and working on community-wide projects.
Project Directors work the school calendar of the school where they are assigned, typically being off on school holidays but also working during the months of June and August. A 40-hour week is expected.
Our program works with many students that are bilingual in Spanish. If you speak Spanish and think you might want to be considered for a position, we need you! Since we work with many parents who speak Spanish, your ability to communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking clients would be most helpful.
