After School Program Youth Team Leaders

Communities In Schools of South Central Texas (CIS) is currently seeking talented, enthusiastic candidates to serve as After School Team Leaders on three middle school campuses in New Braunfels, 23 miles or less from Texas State University and 19 miles or less from TLU. Team Leaders are essential to the success of the Focus On The Future After School program. These engaging, dedicated and caring young adults work closely with middle-school students transforming lives on a daily basis. Each Team Leader leads a team of approximately 12 students, supporting their academic achievement by supervising tutoring sessions with paid certified teachers and enrichment activities (yoga, dance, wrestling, intramural sports, art, cooking, gardening, field trips, etc) led by community volunteers. The Focus On The Future program offers Team Leaders the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of experiences and hands-on leadership development, building on the varied educational backgrounds and areas of study at local universities. The positions are for students with a major field of study in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Kinesiology, Recreation, and Education preferred. Experience and passion for working with adolescents and ‘at risk’ youth a plus. Team Leaders must demonstrate effective communication, maturity, interpersonal and listening skills. Excellent organizational, time management and leadership skills a must. The position is to start on Tuesday, January 4th and will be held three days per week - Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays on middle school grounds immediately after school releases except on those weeks that after school activities are prohibited and on school district holidays. Employees will be paid $9.00 per hour with a maximum of 10.5 hours worked per week.
